Being Risky

As you can see, it's been a rather long time since I've blogged. My apologies! I've been somewhat busy, and well, just too lazy to blog I guess!
Lately I've been reading some books on the resurrection of Jesus amongst other things and as a result I have developed many thoughts on this subject. Bible believing Christians are called , I think, should (and have great reason to do so) live the most risky lives. Christians will say they believe in the physical, bodily resurrection of Jesus....but....do we really think that? It's becoming a new thing in our "religious" world today to think that Jesus rose "spiritually" not "bodily." This is certainly a false misconception and those people miss the entire framework of the Bible, which is God fixing his creation (notice creation is a "physical thing" and making all things new( notice him re-making "physical things)." This is all very important for followers of Christ. One of Christ achievements through the resurrection was to show us what is going to happen to us at the resurrection of the dead. It is crystal clear that in second temple Judaism they took the word "resurrection" in the sense of a new physical bodily resurrection, not a spiritual resurrection. We must realize the great implications this has for us Christians.
First, after we die, at the final judgment, God will grant us new, glorified physical bodies. He is going to restore and fix things the way He originally intended them to be. Thus, we should have no fear of death! This is huge! If your a non-believer you have every right to fear death and leaving your body. The opposite is true of believers. As a result, we need not fear/worry over our bodies. Now this doesn't mean we should not take care of them ( that wouldn't be a good steward of God's gifts) but that should be willing to live risky in light of knowing that in the end we will be given back our bodies!
Secondly, this further emphasizes the goodness of God's creation. Just like the Gnostics back then...many today view physical life bad in and of itself. This is not a part of a Christian world view either! Let us give praise to God for his creation which He made to show His fame and power!
Therefore, because we have the confidence that God is going to restore our physical bodies and the rest of creation, let us not worry and be filled with anxiety of the pains and corruption, and decaying over our bodies, rather may be willing to give our selves away and live risky lives for God knowing that we will be repaid at the resurrection of the dead! To Him be the glory!

"We will never be Christ’s church or fulfill the Great Commission until we choose to take risks that can only be explained by faith in the resurrection of Christ and hope in our own resurrection from the dead."
